A Co-founder of Emerald Landscape, Mrs Adefunke Anoma has called on the citizens of Ekiti to have an attitudinal change on how to manage the environment.
Mrs Anoma gave the call during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti.
She stressed the need for all to have a positive attitude to the environment by ensuring that the environment is habitable to live in .
Mrs Anoma frowned at the indiscriminate disposal of refuses in the drain saying this has led to flooding resulting in lost of lives and property
“As we are entering into the raining seasons , we need to be on the alert in checkmating those in the habit of dumping refuses in the drains.
“My NGO has done a lot of campaign and sensitization in educating people on the proposal ways of disposing of refuses
“Earth Day Celebration provides us all crucial role to evaluate our collective responsibility to sustain our abode.
“It is a call for enduring reflections on the landmark Paris Agreement signed up in 2016 ( during Earth Day 2016 Celebration) by well over a hundred countries including Nigeria.
“Nation signatories are expected to be committed to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This commitment must translate to visible healthy environment where pollution is significantly abated. She stressed.
NAN reports that the theme for this year, 2021 Earth Day is ” Restore Our Earth” which focuses on natural processes and emerging green technologies that can restore the world’s ecosystems. (NAN)
