Three female students from the faculties of law of two of Nigeria’s foremost universities won the laurels at the just concluded essay competition organized by an NGO, Emeraldscape Environmental Development (EMEND) to mark World Environment Day 2020with the theme Celebrate Biodiversity.
The organization which is out to promote and encourage Sustainable Environmental Culture and Development organized the Essay Competition for university students in 100-300 level in June to commemorate this year’s world Environment Day 2020. The topic: Biodiversity Conservation & National Development; Potentials and Challenges, saw over 2000 entries within the two weeks entry period.
The entries which went through various stages of assessments by both academicians and nonacademics from various fields of life endeavours had the likes of Prof. Omolade Adunbi from the Department of Afro-American and African Studies, University of Michigan, USA, Prof. Mrs Adejoke Oyewumi of the Faculty of Law, UNILAG, Dr. Mrs Bukola Oguntuase, a lecturer from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Oluyomi Oshuntokun of Ekiti State Broadcasting Services, and a host of others marking the scripts of participants.
The results of the competition was released on the organisation’s website www.emeraldscape.org on 30th June, 2020 the best 5 entries are;

The objective of the competition is to raise awareness on sustainable environment amongst the youths who are the custodians of future environment.
